Operations Lead
Sarai is a new online auction in Kabul. We sell tested and graded smartphones and laptops sourced in the United States, with honest condition reports and a pickup counter where buyers check the device before paying. We open in January 2027.
We are hiring our first person in Kabul to run day-to-day operations. You will work directly with the founder, who is based in the US.
What you will do
- Register and run the Afghan company, working with an accountant
- Clear imports through a licensed customs broker and keep complete import records
- Run the pickup counter: hand over devices, receive cash and reconcile it every day
- Open and manage the company’s HesabPay merchant account
- Hire and manage one or two counter staff and two or three delivery riders
- Answer customers by phone and WhatsApp in Dari and Pashto
- Test the app before launch and report problems clearly
- Send a weekly report to the founder: sales, cash, returns and stock
What we are looking for
- At least 3 years in operations, retail, logistics or importing in Kabul
- Fluent Dari and Pashto, and able to read and write English
- Experience with customs clearance or importing goods is a strong plus
- Comfortable with smartphones, WhatsApp and spreadsheets
- A proven record of honesty with cash, with two references from previous employers
- Lives in Kabul
Terms
- Full-time, with a 3-month probation period
- Monthly salary in afghani, discussed at interview
- Reports to the founder, remotely
