For traders, companies and auction houses
Sell on Sarai
Bring us your stock. We check it, show every defect, sell it by auction to buyers in Kabul and pay you, minus a fee you know in advance.
Who can sell
Traders and shops
Shops and traders with stock to sell, from a few phones to full pallets.
Companies
Businesses selling surplus stock, returns or used equipment.
Auction houses
Auction houses that want to reach buyers in Kabul through Sarai.
Sellers open a company account with a valid business licence. Sarai checks every seller before the first sale.
How selling works
Apply
Tell us who you are and what you sell, and send your business documents.
Sign the agreement
One seller agreement sets your fees, your payout account and how your goods are handled.
Send your goods
Bring the goods to Sarai. A big lot may stay sealed at your site after we inspect it there.
We inspect
We test and grade single items, count and check lots, photograph every defect and write the listing.
Auction
Your goods are sold by timed auction, timed then live, or buy now, under Sarai’s fair-bidding rules.
Payout
When the buyer has paid and the return window has closed, we pay you the price minus our fee.
Fees
Simple, agreed in advance and paid by the seller. Buyers pay no buyer’s premium on top of the winning bid.
- 10%of the selling price, for single items
- 5%of the selling price, for lots and pallets
- 0%buyer’s premium: nothing is added to the winning bid
You pay the fee only on what sells. Any other cost, for example transport we arrange for you, is agreed in writing before we start.
What you need
Your documents are seen only by the small team that checks sellers. Sarai never shows them to buyers.
- A valid business licence
- Your tax number (TIN)
- The owner’s tazkira or passport
- A payout account in the business’s name
Questions from sellers
Who sets the starting price?
We agree it with you before the auction. You can also ask for a reserve, a hidden lowest price below which your goods are not sold.
Can I price a lot in dollars?
Yes. For each lot you choose US dollars or afghani. Single items are always sold in afghani.
When do I get paid?
After the buyer has paid and the return window has closed: 3 days after hand-over for single items, and 3 days for a lot buyer to report a difference from the list of what is inside. Then we pay the price minus our fee.
What if a buyer returns an item?
A buyer may return an item within 3 days only if it doesn’t match its listing. That is why we inspect and photograph everything first: an honest listing protects you too.
Can I bid on my own goods?
No. Sellers, their staff and their close relatives cannot bid on their own goods. Every bid is recorded, so this is checked.
