For traders and serious buyers

Become a verified bidder

Verified bidders can bid on lots, pallets and partner auctions. It takes a few documents, one refundable deposit and a second sign-in step.

What a verified bidder is

Anyone can bid on single items with just a mobile number. Lots and pallets are bigger purchases, so we need to know who is bidding.

A verified bidder is a person or a company that Sarai has checked. Verified bidders can bid on lots, on big lots in the 48-hour stage and in live sessions, and on partner auctions.

Why we verify

Bigger lots, fair bidding

A lot can be worth thousands of dollars. Knowing every bidder keeps out fake bids and buyers who never pay.

Safer for sellers and buyers

Sellers know they are selling to real buyers, and buyers know they are bidding against real people.

Four steps

  1. Send your documents

A person: your tazkira or passport. A company: the business licence, the tax number (TIN), the owner’s tazkira or passport, and a letter naming who may bid for the company.

  2. We check them

Our team reviews your documents and aims to answer within a day. We may ask for something more.

  3. Place a $100 deposit, once

One refundable deposit of $100 for your account, paid once, not for each lot. You can pay it in afghani by HesabPay or at our counter, or by bank transfer.

  4. Add a second sign-in step

Set up an authenticator app on your phone. To bid on lots, you sign in with your SMS code and then the app’s 6-digit code.

Your lot limit

With the $100 deposit you can bid up to $5,000 (315,000 AFN) on any one lot.

For a lot worth more than your limit, you place an extra refundable deposit for that lot. A larger deposit gives you a higher limit; ask us.

Your deposit comes back

The deposit stays with your account while you bid on lots. When you no longer want to bid, ask for it back and we return it in full.

The auction rules explain the one case in which a deposit is kept: a winner who doesn’t pay in time.

Your documents are safe

  • Seen by few

Only Sarai’s small compliance team can open identity documents, and every time they do, it is recorded.

  • Kept private

Documents are kept in private storage on secure servers outside Afghanistan and are opened only through links that expire within a minute.

  • Bidders stay anonymous

Other bidders and sellers never see who you are. They see only a number, for example “Bidder 4”.

  • Only what we need

We ask only for the documents we need to check you, and use them for nothing else.

Questions

Do I need this to buy single items?

No. Single items need only your mobile number and the deposit for that auction.

Can a company have more than one bidder?

Yes. The company is checked once, and the owner names who may bid for it. Each person signs in with their own mobile number.

Can I bid from outside Afghanistan?

Not yet. For now, verified bidders must be in Afghanistan.

How long does it last?

12 months. Then we check your documents again.
